NIRMAN is a premier civil society organization in Odisha whose major focus is on enhancing the food, nutrition and livelihood security of poor farmers, tribal, forest dwelling and small fisher communities. Their rimary interventions are focused on land and forest governance, sustainable agriculture, biodiversity conservation, management of natural resources, small fishery, women empowerment and skill building. Empowerment of rural, tribal and fisher communities and marginalized groups through collective action and nurturing local self-governing institutions are at the core of ethics.
NIRMAN plays a pivotal role in the socio-economic development of the small holder farmers, scheduled tribe, and marginalized communities in 8 districts namely Nayagarh, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Deogarh, Kalahandi, Jajpur, Puri and Ganjam. NIRMAN’s key competencies are in interventions on bio diverse farming system and securing tenure over forest for poor communities and sustainable management of natural resources in Rayagada, Kandhamal, Nayagarh and Kalahandi districts of Odisha.
