Summary

  • SCINDeA is working with sectoral grassroot communities covering 283 villages.

The programme helps girls manage their menstruation health, and allows better participation in school

There are a lot of stigmas attached to menstruation in South India, which has led to the marginalisation of girls and women, due to lack of information and limited knowledge of the body. These stigmas attached to menstruation has given birth to embarrassment and humiliation, faced by adolescent girls. The continued silence around menstruation often leads to health issues which are overlooked.  Most adolescent girls seek information from their peers who do not know much, worsening the hygiene situation.

South Central India Network for Development Alternatives (SCINDeA) is a long standing network, working in the south-central region of India for the last 24 years. Through partnerships, programme design, programme management, impact and sustainability assessment, SCINDeA has built a good community rapport with different sectoral grassroot communities covering 283 villages, 205 panchayats, 39 blocks, 26 taluks, 15 districts & a population of 2,73,576.
