Summary

Madhu (name changed), a 28-year-old tribal woman from Pakuria block, Jharkhand, once believed that both men and women experience menstruation. Influenced by myths and lack of awareness, she also struggled to access menstrual hygiene products. During a Menstrual Health Management (MHM) session by Lok Kalyan Seva Kendra (LKSK), she participated in an open discussion where, for the first time, she learned the biological facts about menstruation. Her story highlights how awareness can break myths, improve health, and bring dignity to a long-silenced issue.

Like the name of the campaign, ‘Ritu’—which means ‘season’ or ‘menstruation’—our aim is to help girls and women understand menstruation as a natural, healthy process. The Ritu Saathi Campaign seeks to break the silence and stigma around menstruation in tribal and remote areas (Santhal and Pahariya regions).

We have already partnered with Reva Econauts for eco-friendly menstrual products (menstrual cups and cloth pouches). However, we still need your support.

  • to purchase and distribute these products to 100 tribal women.
  • to address unsafe practices, social taboos with awareness activities like workshops, drama, role play and drawing completion
  • to encourage families and community leaders for support—creating a safer, healthier environment for all

Let’s not hold back from ensuring safe and healthy periods for women—just ₹3,000 can make it happen!
