Manipur has been hit by extreme weather events like hailstorms, incessant raining since the beginning of May, 2024. The recent storm damaged 15,000 homes, destroyed crops, and caused injuries to animals, birds, and humans alike. Poultry farms have been ravaged, leading to a devastating loss of chickens. Many roof granaries have been destroyed, resulting in the loss of vital paddy stores. Now, the recent cyclone has hit hard and even the relief camps were flooded and many are suffering.
Among those affected are hundreds of pregnant women, the elderly, and patients battling cancer, TB, AIDS, heart conditions, and other serious diseases. These vulnerable individuals are now struggling more than ever in villages that have been severely impacted. To support these families, 42 relief camps have been established.
In response to this dire situation, INDIAdonates is partnering with New Life Foundation to provide immediate and essential relief. Our efforts are concentrated on Bishnupur, Imphal West, Imphal East, Jiribam, Kakching, Kangpokpi, Noney, Thoubal, Churachandpur, Senapati, and Pherzawl districts in Manipur.
Through this campaign, we are dedicated to offering infrastructural support, nutritional assistance, and medical care to meet the most urgent needs of the vulnerable population who are most affected by the recent extreme weather events. The people of Manipur have been through so much in recent months. They are mentally, physically, and emotionally exhausted. Mothers, little children, and the elderly have lost hope in the face of such relentless adversity. It’s time for us to come together as a compassionate society and extend a helping hand to these unheard and unseen individuals.
